"Everyone looks... older," he finally admitted after Tandy explained how she knew about the party. The music wasn't bad, switching from pop to hip hop--all mellow and recent. It wasn't a rave or even anything like the club they'd gone to on their first date. Nobody seemed interested in them, even as Tandy sat on the trunk of someone's car. He gave a little glance before reaching up with his free hand and affectionately holding onto one of her arms wrapped around him.
Ty felt warm and a little uninhibited. "You just hung out or did she stay at the church too?" He wondered how many people had been through the place that was his current hideout. "How many people have you stayed with?" Another question was asked as it came to mind. There was no accusation in his tone, just curiosity. "Lenny the Altar Rat not included." He included the joke she used on him once.
A trio of girls walked past, possibly eying them. Ty wasn't sure if they lingered looking at him or Tandy. He didn't sense any danger of being snitched on to the cops. It was more an interested look or maybe appreciating the two together. Ty found himself no longer wanting to finish the drink in hand. He felt a little too free, catching himself staring back at the young women without deterring his gaze. "Am I dressed okay for this?" he asked his girlfriend.
He'd worn a plain dark colored long sleeve t-shirt with jeans and sneakers. Tandy was sitting on top of Billy's hoodie so they'd have it near but without having to wear it. It wasn't fall just yet and not exactly hoodie wearing weather.
